Player Pathway Model

Please see below for a explanation of the Club’s Player Pathway Model:

Kirsty Gilmour

Level – Beginner
Age – 7 Years Old to 10 Years Old

No badminton experience required to attend these sessions.  The sessions focus on introduction and development of basic movement skills, hitting skills, fun games, introduction to basic rules of the game and matchplay.

Emerging Potential

Level – Improver
Age – 11 Years Old to 15 years Old

Some badminton experience required to attend these sessions.  The sessions focus on building on and developing existing skill level in areas of movement skills, stroke production and tactical awareness.  There is also an introduction to event specific skills and off court training, included in the sessions.

Developing Potential 

Level – Advanced
Age – 12 Years Old to 18 Years Old

These sessions are by invitation only.  Criteria for an invitation would be for players to have a National Ranking, this would mean that players should be competing on a regular basis in National Age Group events.  The sessions focus on advanced skill development in relation to movement, stroke production and tactical awareness.  There is also a more event specific approach to the sessions, looking at developing singles and doubles play.

Senior Performance

Level – Advanced
Age – 18 Years +

These sessions are aimed at senior players who have a National Ranking and are competing on a regular basis in either open tournaments or in County teams that compete in the BadmintonEngland Senior County Championships.  The sessions are split between 1 hour of practice followed by 1 hour of match play.  During the practice section, players can either focus on singles or doubles, whichever suits the players needs.  Junior players can attend this session by invitation and this will be assessed on an individual basis.
